Transneft Siberia completed construction and brought into service a new building of the chemical analytical laboratory (CAL) at Surgut Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (RPD).
The building construction started in April 2017 at the Western Surgut line operation dispatcher station affiliated with Surgut RPD. The previous chemical analytical laboratory building failed to fully comply with the requirements designed for test laboratories that monitored the oil quality parameters.
The range of tasks addressed by the chemical analytical laboratory of the Surgut PRD has expanded drastically since 2017. Two new online oil quantity and quality metering systems (OQQMS) were brought into service at the Surgut RPD in October 2017, for the Surgut – Gorky –Polotsk and Kholmogory – Klin oil trunk pipelines. This resulted in a spike in terms of oil quality parameters determination workload, since the samples were drawn daily at two quality metering units (instead of once as before). Other than that, the new laboratory building hosts regular tests to control organic chlorides and oil pour point.
The total area of the new building is 333.7 sq. m. The laboratory features up-to-date equipment to perform a full range of tests.
The chemical analytical laboratory building was brought into service as scheduled.
