Transneft Siberia starts technical upgrading of automated control system at Salym-2 pumping station

Date of publication: 22 March 2018

Nefteyugansk Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate of Transneft Siberia has launched a set of works for technical upgrading of automated control system at Salym-2 pumping station (PS).

The works are supposed to bring the system in conformity with the effective regulatory documents and standard design solutions of Transneft. The automated control system at Salym-2 PS has been operated since 1995. This is the last relay automated system used at the site of Salym line operation dispatcher station (LODS).

Сurrently, overhead cable trays are being constructed at the PS site; specialists are also replacing the enclosure at the PS junction point and laying cable products and trays.

A set of construction, installation and commissioning works will be carried out in the course of the technical upgrading. Among other measures, the plan calls for laying over 70 km of cable products, installing 17 automation cabinets, constructing over 600 m of overhead cable trays, setting up and tuning 280 sensors, transformers and signaling devices and welding over 300 metres of impulse lines. The works will result in Salym-2 PS having a modern microprocessor system of automation manufactured in Russia.

The new automation system at Salym-2 PS will ensure a higher level of control over the performance parameters of main pump units and auxiliary PS systems as well as timely detection of possible failures.

As per Transneft Siberia development programme, the commissioning of the Salym-2 PS automated control system is scheduled for November 2018. The new system will enhance operational reliability of the Ust-Balyk – Kurgan – Ufa – Almetievsk oil trunk pipeline.
