Transneft Siberia confirms compliance of its main management systems with international standards

Date of publication: 20 April 2018 Print

On 18–19 April 2018, Transneft Siberia underwent a surveillance audit to validate the compliance of its energy, environmental and occupational health management systems with international standards.

An auditor from DQS, an international certification authority, annually analyses the activities of the Company’s main business units. This year, the audit took place at Nefteyugansk Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate (OTPD), namely at Yuzhny Balyk line operation dispatcher station (LODS), one of its business units, and at the executive office.

The Company’s performance in the fields of energy management, occupational health and environmental safety was favourably evaluated by the auditor. Both the personnel’s commitment to implementing programmes in the above fields and the strict documentation management were noted. A procedure for holding “The Best Occupational Health Unit” and “Occupational Safety Day” contests was developed to improve the production standards and encourage the employees to adhere to the occupational health requirements.

In 2017, the implementation of the energy saving and energy efficiency improvement programme resulted in considerable savings of energy for the Company, which, in turn, helped reduce air emissions. Those indicators were achieved by increasing the efficiency of the pumping equipment and the electric motors as well as by optimising the auxiliary electricity costs and replacing the light sources with LED-based ones.

The implementation of the Company’s environmental programmes translated into building utility water treatment plants at Yugan oil pumping station (PS) affiliated with Nizhnevartovsk OTPD and a complex of treatment plants at Yuzhny Balyk LODS of Nefteyugansk OTPD, which includes a production waste and storm water treatment station, a sludge dewatering station and a biotreatment station.

The audit results confirmed that Transneft Siberia’s activities and operations in the spheres of occupational health, environmental safety and energy efficiency matched Transneft’s policy and complied with international standards.
