Date of publication: 19 October 2018 Print

Transneft Siberia has completed hydraulic testing of vertical floating-roof tank No. 11 at Konda line operation dispatcher station (LODS) of Urai Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate (OTPD).

Two vertical floating-roof oil tanks (No. 11 and No. 12) with the capacity of 20,000 cubic metres each (VFRT-20000) are currently under construction at Konda LODS’ tank farm. The work is performed within the Technical Upgrading and Overhaul Programme.

The construction of the tanks began in February 2018. As of today, metal structures of VFRT No. 11 have been installed, and hydraulic strength and leakage tests have been performed in full. Metal structures of VFRT No. 12 are still being installed, the work is 91% complete. After the completion of the installation, strength and leakage tests will also be conducted.

In addition, three lightning rods were assembled in the tanks’ area of construction. Currently, process pipelines are being connected, overhead cable trays are being installed, and cables are being laid, external fire extinguishing system networks are being built.

112 people and 22 pieces of equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, cranes, piling and drilling rigs, are engaged at the facility. New tanks will be put into operation in September 2019 according to the project’s schedule.

The tanks are being constructed to achieve a uniform loading of tank farms, taking into account future volumes of oil pumped by Transneft Siberia.
