Transneft Siberia Close to Completing Works on Elimination of Oil Spill Consequences at KhMAD – Yugra Oil Trunk Pipeline

Transneft Siberia is completing works on elimination of the consequences of an emergency oil release at the Povkh – Pokachi – Uryevskie oil trunk pipeline’s section near Langepas in Nizhnevartovsk District of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District — Yugra.

Oil transportation was promptly restored and is carried out according to routing orders to the full extent without deviations.

The volume of the oil released is 7 m3 which is 0.14 ha.

At the place of incident, 1200 m of booms were installed, oil skimmers and sorbents are used. The elimination of consequences is carried out in wet boggy areas. The volume of collected oil and emulsion is 5 m3, 240 m2 of water surface is cleaned.

66 people and 28 pieces of equipment of Nizhnevartovsk Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate of Transneft Siberia are involved in the works. 

Environmental monitoring is going on at the place of the oil release. There is no possibility of oil getting into the water area of the Agan river.

The situation poses no danger for people and the environment. There are no grounds for announcing an emergency.

Information about the incident was timely sent to the supervisory and regulatory authorities, interaction with local government authorities is organised. The causes of the incident are being established, an administrative investigation is being conducted.

Biological rehabilitation and return of the restored land to the local authorities will be completed by mid-July 2019.
