Transneft Siberia Upgrades Power Supply System at Uvat LODS

Transneft Siberia has constructed an indoor switchgear (ISG 6kV) at the Uvat line operation dispatcher station (LODS) of the Tobolsk Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate. The work was carried out under the technical upgrading and overhaul programme implemented by the Company.

The purpose of the works is to bring the power supply system into compliance with the requirements of regulatory documents and standard design solutions of Transneft regarding the improvement of power equipment reliability indicators. The replaced equipment was put into operation in 1971.

The works at the facility began in February 2019. A new 6-kV indoor switchgear (IGS-6kV) with modern factory-assembled switchgear (FASG) cells equipped with microprocessor relay protection and automation units, was built during the revamping of the power supply system at the Uvat LODS. Also, the new ISG building accommodates premises for patch panels and telecommunications equipment.

Control station boards and a 630-kW diesel power plant with diesel fuel tanks, designed to ensure emergency power supply to special consumers, were replaced. In addition, 5 lighting masts were mounted, cables and wires were replaced, an automated measuring and information system of energy monitoring and metering was installed. All the equipment was manufactured in Russia and meets the latest requirements in terms of energy efficiency and failure safety.

As part of the project, technical solutions were tested with digital measuring transformers and centralised devices for relay protection and power substation control. The commissioning of the indoor switchgear is carried out as scheduled.

The microprocessor-based technical solutions implemented at the indoor switchgear of the Uvat LODS allowed to improve safety, reliability and energy efficiency of the operating facility and to ensure uninterrupted oil transportation at the operating section of the Ust-Balyk — Omsk oil trunk pipeline.
