Transneft Siberia Commissions New Displacement Prover at Konda LODS

Date of publication: 20 November 2019

Transneft Siberia has completed construction of a mechanical displacement prover at the Konda line operation dispatcher station (LODS) of the Uray Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate (OTPD). The construction was carried out in accordance with Transneft Siberia’s development programme.

In accordance with Transneft’s import substitution programme, the mechanical displacement prover was manufactured in Russia. The prover is used to determine and maintain accuracy of the oil flow transducers indicators when determining the volume of pumped oil. Verification and monitoring of metrological characteristics is carried out automatically with two oil lease automatic custody transfer units (LACT) No. 913 and No. 914 located at the Kholmogory — Klin and Surgut — Polotsk oil trunk pipelines. This equipment is of the first-category standard within the oil industry.

The construction and installation began in April 2019. The purpose of the works is to replace the old mechanical displacement prover with a new one which meets the requirements of the current regulatory documents and standard design solutions of Transneft. The replaced equipment was put into operation in 2000. At the moment, individual tests of the MDP and related equipment, including a system for processing and displaying information, were carried out, as well as comprehensive testing of the equipment under load.

The new mechanical displacement prover allowed to increase the reliability of accounting operations and the accuracy of measurements at the Kholmogory — Klin and Surgut — Polotsk oil trunk pipelines when information is transmitted to Transneft Kama Region. The MDP was connected to the process pipelines of the Konda LODS of the Uray OTPD and commissioned as scheduled.
