Transneft Siberia’s Management Systems Comply with Occupational Health, Environmental and Energy Saving International Standards

Transneft Siberia has underwent an external surveillance audit for compliance of its health management systems, as well as environmental and energy management systems with international standards. The inspection was carried out at facilities of the Nizhnevartovsk Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra).

Auditors of the certification body highly appreciated the achieved performance of Transneft Siberia. All the set goals of the management systems for 2020 have been fulfilled, the company’s activities fully comply with legislative and regulatory requirements. The high involvement of employees in the successful implementation of measures in all three audit areas was also noted.

Conditions for maximum protection of life and health of employees at workplaces due to the effective implementation of the occupational health management system (OHMS) were created. Risks assessment, revamping and upgrading of operating facilities is carried out as well, employees are provided with overalls and personal protective equipment with enhanced protective properties. On an ongoing basis, personnel are trained in safe methods of work performance, industrial control of compliance with sanitary standards and rules, as well as work to prevent accidents are carried out. In 2020, more than 550 employees were trained in occupational health dedicated training courses, a dedicated working conditions assessment was carried out at 2.6 thousand workplaces.

As part of the implementation of the energy saving and energy efficiency improvement programme, optimal pumping modes are applied, upgrading of electric pump units is carried out: last year, 32 electric motors and 31 pump units were replaced with new ones. A significant effect was achieved due to the construction and repair of boiler houses, replacement of heat-transfer materials and heating networks. During the construction of new buildings and the revamping of the existing buildings and structures, modern thermal insulation materials are used.

As part of the biodiversity conservation programme in areas of the company’s operation, compensatory measures on the artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources, such as release of fish juveniles, including valuable fish species into water bodies, are organised. Transneft Siberia is also involved in forest restoration. Last year, 329.6 thousand tree seedlings were planted on an area of 87.6 hectares.

Based on the audit results, a decision was made to extend the validity of certificates of compliance of occupational health management, environmental and energy management systems with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018 international standards.
